Fertility Assessment
- Is it taking you a little longer than you think it should to get pregnant?
- Are you approaching your next birthday and worried that when you are ready to have a child, you will be unable to?
- Do you simply want some peace of mind as you begin contemplating parenthood?
Dominion Fertility offers Fertility Assessment. A few simple tests can tell volumes about your fertility.
Below we have listed some of the
fertility test
s that may be recommended.
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel - evaluates overall health and checks for conditions like diabetes, anemia, liver or kidney disease.
- Lipid Panel/ Cholesterol Screening - evaluates levels of different types of cholesterol and triglycerides. High levels may indicate Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).
- Thyroid Function Panel - thyroid dysfunction can halt ovulation by upsetting the balance of the body’s natural reproductive hormones.
- Infectious Disease/ STD Screening - untreated and/or undetected STD’s can affect fertility in men and women.
- Day 3 Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) - a fertility test that aids in determining ovarian reserve.
- Leutenizing Hormone (LH) - a fertility test that aids in determining if and when and egg is released from the ovary.
- Estradiol (E2) - a fertility test that aids in monitoring ovulation and can diagnose amenorrhea (the absence of a menstrual period).
- Progesterone (P) - a fertility test that aids in diagnosis of PCOS (link to glossary) and can be used to identify possible disorders in the adrenal gland.
- HSG (Hysterosalpingogram) - can determine if fallopian tubes are open or blocked by scar tissue or adhesions.
- Semen Analysis - a basic fertility test for males that assesses the levels of healthy and normal sperm. Often this test is overlooked until female tests are complete, but it should be done early on in the evaluation process if there is a male partner involved.
Fertility assessment requires no commitment to treatment. We offer this service to help you make important decisions based on your current health regarding family planning. Please note, however, that irregular menstrual cycles indicate ovulatory dysfunction and should be assessed by an Ob/Gyn, regardless of intention to get pregnant.
Dominion Fertility also offers embryo cryopreservation. After age 35, female fertility begins to markedly decrease. If the time isn’t right for you to have a child now, consider this alternatives that may help secure your ability to conceive in the future.
