International Patient

Information

Dominion Fertility has been treating patients in the Washington, D.C. area for over 20 years. During this time, we have had patients travel from all over the world seeking our hallmark personalized care and cutting edge advanced reproductive technologies. In order to make your visit as productive and stress free as possible, we have outlined the usual protocol for our international patients.

1.  Please contact Robin Webb, RN, Dominion Fertility’s International Coordinator directly at Info@DominionFertility.com. Robin will provide you with an overview of the process regarding your specific treatment, and all information regarding how a cycle would proceed for an international patient. She has worked with Dominion Fertility for over 15 years and is a registered nurse who has first hand experience with infertility treatments. Robin currently resides in Germany and coordinates our care for international patients. She will be your point of contact and support person prior to your visit in the United States.

2.  Following your complimentary consultation with Robin, she will provide you with the necessary paperwork and coordinate your phone consultation with one of our doctors during their normal working hours.

3.  Your initial phone consultation with the doctor will last approximately 30 minutes. At the time of your appointment, you will receive a phone call from our office. If you require more time with the doctor, Robin will be happy to schedule follow up consultations. Your new patient paperwork must be completed before your consultation so our doctors have time to review your medical history. Along with your new patient paperwork, please also send all pertinent portions of your medical records directly to Dominion Fertility.
You may send your records via:

Email: dominionfertility@luxsci.net
Fax: (703)892-6037
Mail: Dominion Fertility
Attn: Nancy Banks
46 S. Glebe Rd. Suite 301
Arlington, VA 22204

All information must be received prior to your phone consultation. A credit card payment of $435 will be accepted at the time of the consultation. This fee will be applied toward treatment if you choose to proceed with treatment at Dominion Fertility.

4.  Once the timing of your cycle has been determined, you will be required to travel here for a one-day medical evaluation consisting of a mock embryo transfer, sonogram, STD testing and hysterosalpingogram (HSG). An HSG is an x-ray with dye used to determine if the fallopian tubes are open. If you have had an HSG within the last two years, this test does not need to be repeated as long as you are able to bring the report and, if available, the x-ray films to your appointment.

In the case of female/male couples, the male may have his sperm collected and cryopreserved at this time in order to simplify future treatment. If a sample is frozen, the male does not necessarily have to return to the U.S. when the IVF procedure is performed. However, MOST IMPORTANTLY, the male partner must have STD testing completed and sent to us BEFORE arriving for the appointment if the couple has chosen to proceed with sperm cryopreservation.

If you are using a Dominion Fertility anonymous egg donor, you will additionally be required to schedule a psychological evaluation with Dr. Joyce C. Migdal. Dr. Migdal can be contacted directly at joyce.migdal@mac.com to arrange an appointment time when you can meet with her personally at our office.

For patients without insurance, we have an International Patient Testing Package available at a fixed rate. Robin Web will discuss the specific tests you will require, as well as the approximate fees for these services. As a way to say thank you to our brave women and men in the military, we also offer a discount to all of our military families serving our country so bravely.

During your visit to Dominion Fertility you will personally meet your doctor, a member of the embryologist team, and other medical personnel who will be involved in your cycle. You will also meet with a representative from our Financial Services Department to discuss fees and payment arrangements.

If you elect not to have your testing and evaluations performed at Dominion Fertility, we are willing to work with clinics in your hometown, but cannot take responsibility for mistakes in testing or the transmission of test results to our office. All prescribed prescreening tests must be performed within three months of initial consultation, with the exception of the HSG. The patient is financially responsible for all testing not performed at Dominion Fertility.

Many patients elect to undergo all testing at Dominion Fertility in order to ensure accurate and timely results.

5.  If you have any additional questions after your initial meeting at Dominion Fertility, you are encouraged to speak with our nursing staff about the specific timing of your cycle. Usually, the cycle takes place 2-3 months after your initial visit to Dominion Fertility. During this time, we will work closely with the local fertility center in your hometown to coordinate treatment and testing.

6.  Lastly, you will need to travel to Dominion Fertility for your final sonograms and embryo transfer. This process lasts approximately 7-10 days in total. During this time, our doctors and nursing staff will closely monitor your progress.

7.  When you are medically released to leave, usually 24 hours after the procedure, you may travel back to your home.
