Infertility Advocacy Day with Resolve

Resolve is a non-profit, charitable organization, who works to improve the lives of women and men living with infertility. One role of Resolve is to continuously scan for legislation that relates to infertility, benefits, family building, military coverage and reproductive rights. Essentially, anything and everything to do with infertility, family building and legislation. Of course, this is in addition to education, support and helping to find ways to make care more affordable.

Each year, Resolve heads up and Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill. Advocacy Day is a 1 ½ day event where the infertility community comes together to educate Members of Congress about issues and legislation important to our community. This year, Advocacy Day will be May 17-18th. It’s right here in our own beautiful backyard of Washington, DC – so, if you’re looking for a way to get involved and truly make a difference, consider attending. It is for patients, friends, families of those affected by infertility, those who have adopted or used a surrogate / gestational carrier and professionals. By showing up and speaking out, your voice is heard, and together we really make a difference.

I had the pleasure of attending last year, and we were successful in securing funding so the Veterans Administration can offer IVF services to wounded vets. This year, we are asking congress to make #IVF4Vets permanent. Although the full plan for the bills we will be lobbying for isn’t available until closer to the date of the event, they will very likely include continuing the fight against Personhood Bills and continuing the Adoption Tax Credit.

Attending Advocacy Day with Resolve is a highlight in my career. To have the ability to speak about what we know, what we love and what we are passionate about to have a positive effect on the law and others on this journey is an honor and a gift. Together, we can make a difference by standing up, speaking out and being a champion for change.
